Boops is operated by Peter Szoke ("we", "us"). This policy covers the Boops desktop app, mobile app, CLI, the hosted web app at app.getboops.com, the Boops Connect relay, and this website.

Your bots run on your machine

Boops runs on a computer or server you control. Your prompts, responses, files, and conversations stay on that machine and go directly to the AI provider you choose, such as Anthropic or OpenAI, under that provider's terms. They are not sent to us.

What we collect

  • Account data. If you sign in to Boops Connect, we store your email address, name, and profile picture from the sign-in method you use (email, Google, GitHub, Apple, or a passkey). Accounts are managed by our authentication provider, Clerk.
  • Connection data. To link your devices, the relay stores the environments and devices you register, push notification tokens, and connection metadata. Remote connections run through a Cloudflare tunnel; the relay sets up the link but does not proxy your sessions.
  • Product usage events. The Boops server sends usage events such as the provider, model, request results, durations, and token counts, tied to hashed identifiers. They never include prompts, responses, file contents, or credentials. We process these with PostHog.
  • Diagnostics. Relay connection traces and mobile crash reports (error message, stack trace, app version, device model, and OS version) help us fix problems. We process these with Axiom.

How we use it

We use this data to run Boops Connect, deliver notifications, keep the service secure, fix bugs, and understand which features are used. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.

Turning collection off

Set T3CODE_TELEMETRY_ENABLED=false on the machine running Boops to stop product usage events and relay tracing. In the mobile app, turn off Send crash reportsunder Settings → About Boops → Diagnostics. You can use Boops without a Boops Connect account over your local network or Tailscale.

Service providers

We rely on Clerk (accounts), Cloudflare (hosting, relay, and tunnels), PlanetScale (relay database), PostHog (product analytics), Axiom (diagnostics), and Apple and Google (push notifications). They process data on our behalf, only to provide their services.

Retention and deletion

We keep account and connection data while your account is active. Usage and diagnostic data is kept only as long as it is useful for running and improving Boops. To delete your account and associated data, email us at the address below.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, including the EU under the GDPR, you can ask to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, or object to how we process it. Contact us and we will respond within 30 days. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

Boops is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date above. For significant changes, we will give notice in the app or by email.
